Palmarina represented Türkiye in Barcelona, the next stop is Hamburg

Palmarina, sponsor to the ‘Extreme Sailing Series’ – one of the world’s most prestigious sailing events, represented Türkiye and Bodrum during the race in Barcelona.

Palmarina aims to promote Bodrum as a host city for the races next year.

This year, Palmarina Türkiye’s leading mega marina, is sponsoring one of the most prestigious yacht racing events in the world, the Extreme Sailing Series. The first race began in Madeira Islands in late June, and continued in Barcelona from the 20-23 July.

‘We are promoting Türkiye and Bodrum’

At a very special event in Barcelona, Palmarina, hosted over 800 visitors including business partners and VIPs, providing the perfect yachting experience while introducing them to Bodrum and Türkiye during the race weekend. Head of Marketing and PR, Derya Akyüz hosted guests at the Extreme Club, in the heart of Barcelona, with an exquisite selection of Turkish flavours. Derya Akyüz stated that this sponsorship is a vital part of their goal to host the Extreme Sailing Series and Flying Phantom Series in Bodrum next year. “We are supporting the race worldwide while promoting Türkiye and Bodrum with its rich maritime lifestyle contributed by Palmarina. There was a great deal of attention for our marina at the event in Barcelona. Sailing is very important for us and for our country, therefore as Palmarina, we are doing our best to support such initiatives.” she said.
Officially sponsored by Palmarina, 8 teams consisiting of 6 crew members were racing in the Extreme Sailing Series, and 12 teams of 2 crew members were challenging the winds for the Flying Phantom series.

Oman Air won the Barcelona Act, and the next race will be in Hamburg

Besides Palmarina, the Extreme Sailing Series has sponsors including Land Rover, SAP, Zhink, Gac Pindar, North Sails, Sony, Cisco, and Flying Phantom. The races span the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Americas. The World’s top sailors come together to form the most competitive teams such as: Alinghi, Land Rover Bay Academy, NzExtreme Sailing Team, Oman Air, Red Bull Extreme Sailing, SAP Extreme Sailing, Engie, Nzl Sailing Team, Team Extreme, and Team Tilt.
The 4th Act of the Extreme Sailing Series was hosted in Barcelona on the weekend of 20-23 July. After a breathtaking competition and thrilling moments, Oman Air took first place. The next Act will be in Germany, Hamburg, on the weekend of 10 – 13 August.
