Yalıkavak Marina continues to host superyachts: magnificent MOONLIGHT II is our guest this weekend!

Yalıkavak Marina is hosting one of the world’s largest and most impressive yachts: the 91,4-meter long MOONLIGHT II is berthing at the Europe’s leading megayacht marina this weekend.

With the 36 passenger and 34 crew accommodation capacity, Moonlight II is one of the best yachts in the world when it comes to scalefull VIP or corporate events.

Superyacht Moonlight II naval architect is the “Alpha Marine” and her stunning exterior and interior design is created by Lally Poulias.

Moonlight II, capable of crossing the Atlantic Ocean within a range of over 7,000 nautical miles, has also got amenities for special needs like business center with the digital PBX telephone system equipped with the latest ISDN software with 80 lines, wine cellar with a storage of over 500 vintage wines, 24-hour laundry service, SPA and a Bose surround sound music systems throughout the entire yacht.

Moonlight II is the second superyacht hosted by the Yalıkavak Marina in May 2018, after a 85-meter superyacht Valerie that visited Yalikavak Marina for the TYBA Charter Yacht show on 3-6 May.
Yalıkavak Marina will proudly welcome more than 50 local and international yachts and industry professionals hosting a four day-long Turkey’s biggest Yachting and Brokers Association (TYBA) Charter Show on 3-6 May 2018. Around 54 yachts of 20-55m size operating at the Aegean and Mediterranean waters will make themselves available at the Yalikavak Marina for the interested industry professionals at the Turkey’s highest ever-attended yachting event.

The TYBA Charter Show will also organize two seminars related to discussing yacht routes at the Turkish waters as well as arrival and departure procedures of the Turkish and Greek commercial yachts.

While yachts host the special dinners with the delicate tastes of Turkish cuisine, on shore there will be Turkish cuisine cooking contests and many different events during the four-day show.

Yalıkavak Marina is the first “UNICEF Platinum Wings” owner of Turkish marine industry; supporting UNICEF Turkish National Committee for its work in Turkey and around the world for the most disadvantaged children to assume their basic rights.

Prominent names such as Turgut Konukoğlu, Adil Konukoğlu, Sami Konukoğlu, Uğur Işık, Sinan Kosif, Can Dikmen, Alp Kırşan, Can Okan, Berent Akdemir, Cihan Kosif, Sedat Akdemir, İskender Atakan, Çağdaş Çağlar and Mehmet Fırat were amongst the anglers during the two days of exciting competition. Turgut Konukoğlu, member of the board at Sanko Holding, won the tournament with an impressive catch of 116kg tuna at the competition commentated by Alp Kırşan. Adil Konukoğlu, vice president of Sanko Holding came second place with 67kg tuna and Alp Kırşan third.

IGFA representative Dr. Serdar Günseren was the chief referee and the event hosted by prominent lawyer, Can Özer.

Can Okan and his team aboard Omnia won the first prize in the boat category.

Turkish Tournament record broken!

On the second day of the tournament, Turgut Konukoğlu and his team on board the Bluefin, caught a 116kg tuna and shattered the Turkish Tournament record by capturing the biggest fish that was ever caught until date.

The teams enjoyed a well-deserved celebration with music by Samsha Band at Yalıkavak Marina. Well-known names as well as the competitors joined the award ceremony organized by MOST. Hacı Sabancı, Melda Kosif, Süleyman Kosif, Cansen Kut, Beste-Mustafa Yurttaşan and Mina Başaran were amongst the distinguished faces attending the event.

Hacı Sabancı, personally congratulated the victorious team and Turgut Konukoğlu at their boat Bluefin. Melda and Hale Kosif accompanied their spouses Sinan Kosif and Cihan Kosif during the event. Sportfishing is a popular and exciting sport worldwide and MOST Bodrum, is the biggest and most outstanding organiser of the tournament in Turkey. This year, Yalıkavak Marina Turkey’s leading mega marina, is sponsoring one of the most prestigious yacht racing events in the world, the Extreme Sailing Series. The first race began in Madeira Islands in late June, and continued in Barcelona from the 20-23 July.

At a very special event in Barcelona, Yalıkavak Marina , hosted over 800 visitors including business partners and VIPs, providing the perfect yachting experience while introducing them to Bodrum and Turkey during the race weekend. Head of Marketing and PR, Derya Akyüz hosted guests at the Extreme Club, in the heart of Barcelona, with an exquisite selection of Turkish flavours. Derya Akyüz stated that this sponsorship is a vital part of their goal to host the Extreme Sailing Series and Flying Phantom Series in Bodrum next year. "We are supporting the race worldwide while promoting Turkey and Bodrum with its rich maritime lifestyle contributed by Yalıkavak Marina. There was a great deal of attention for our marina at the event in Barcelona. Sailing is very important for us and for our country, therefore as Yalıkavak Marina, we are doing our best to support such initiatives." she said.
Officially sponsored by Yalıkavak Marina, 8 teams consisiting of 6 crew members were racing in the Extreme Sailing Series, and 12 teams of 2 crew members were challenging the winds for the Flying Phantom series.

Oman Air won the Barcelona Act, and the next race will be in Hamburg

The 4th Act of the Extreme Sailing Series was hosted in Barcelona on the weekend of 20-23 July. After a breathtaking competition and thrilling moments, Oman Air took first place. The next Act will be in Germany, Hamburg, on the weekend of 10 - 13 August.

The next Act will take place in Madeira Islands, Portugal, from 29 June – 2 July, and will see the Flying Phantom Series take off, alongside the Stadium Racing Series, for the first time.
